Years ago, a local liquor distributor’s workforce was experiencing issues from lifting, twisting and carrying product. ELS was contacted to design and fabricate a custom solution to integrate with the customer’s existing telescopic conveyor. ELS developed a Destuffing Platform prototype. Since that initial unit, the multi-shift organization has installed 15 units in local distribution centers.
The success of the Destuff-IT™ lead ELS to realize the worldwide demand for ergonomic assists for unloading containers and trailers. In 2013, this unique lift assist was granted a US patent., The design is currently patent-pending in Canada.
In 2015, ELS opened a second plant dedicated to the production of the Destuff-IT™ line.

“The ELS Destuff-IT has been an essential addition to our receiving process. We have increased our unload capacity, from 1 container per day to 3 containers per day, with most unloads taking 2 hours to complete. The containers vary with the amount of sku’s from 5 to 75 per container. the Destuff-IT has allowed us develop a better sorting process, because of the continuous movement and variable speed settings. ELS Destuff-IT investment has been well worth all of the effort to get it to our facility.”
Scott Lane, Receiving Supervisor
Destuff-IT™ installed February 2015
“Not only Management happy with the operation on the machine, the guy’s on the floor love it!”
Harold Beasley, Supervisor
Destuff-IT™ installed December 2014
“I honestly mean this when I say, this is the best investment we have ever made in the QA and Receiving area, and I have been with the company for 26 years !!!! We absolutely love it !!!! I honestly think that we can unload a container in 1 hour once we really get the hang of it. Our normal unload time is right about 3 hours the way we were doing it [pre-Destuff-IT installation]. We are heading into the peak of our season, and this is going to greatly improve our ability to handle a large volume of containers in a much shorter period of time .Not only this, but will save the company money as well in detention fees. You are only allowed 2 hours to unload a container before you run into detention fees, which can quickly add up to a large amount of money. I cannot imagine us EVER having to pay these fees again with the Destuff-IT Bi-Directional.”
David Hart, Production Manager
Restuff-IT™ Bi-Directional installed August 2014
“The equipment (Destuff-IT Unloaders) is so simple, employees required very little training … The ROI on our investment was approximately nine months and over a consecutive three years, thanks to enhanced ergonomics, training, standard operating practices, culture changing initiatives and to an extent our new Destuff-IT units, our logistics departments have experienced an 82 percent reduction in lost-time accidents and a comparable decrease in WSIB expenses.”
